R.I.P. Madeleine L’Engle

How many of us remember her books as one of the best things about childhood? And how many of us are pleased to pass them on to our children?

I enjoyed readiung the Salon piece on her today, which contained this lovely quotation:

L’Engle once said, “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
